A woman was killed in northeast Atlanta Saturday night after she fell from a bridge and got hit by a car, police said.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News they were investigating the death at the intersection of Boulevard Northeast and Edgewood Avenue.

Witnesses told police the woman either fell or jumped from the Decatur Street bridge and landed on Boulevard, Officer Lukasz Sajdak said in an email.

“Once she was on the ground she was struck by a passing motorist,” Sajdak said.

Investigators have identified the woman, but have not yet notified next of kin.

Sajdak said investigators are investigating what caused her to fall.
