For one woman on Thursday, a routine trip to a local grocery store didn’t end so well.

Sandy Springs police said an initial investigation indicates that a woman, while leaving a Kroger on Roswell Road, hit the gas pedal instead of the brake in her white Mercedes Benz, which caused the car to flip on its side in the parking lot.

Initial reports from police via Channel 2 Action News were that people stole items from the woman’s car instead of helping her, but Sandy Springs Police Captain Mike Lindstrom says there was no evidence of anything being stolen from the woman’s vehicle. After reviewing surveillance video on Friday, police confimed that people were in fact trying to help the woman.

Lindstrom said no further information was immediately available as the report has not yet been completed.

The crash happened on Roswell Road at Glenridge Drive in Sandy Springs Thursday morning.
