A woman walked into Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday afternoon, Sandy Springs police said.

Capt.  Steve Rose, a police spokesman, said the woman drove herself to the hospital around 3:45 p.m. He said the woman told police she accidentally shot herself in the stomach and drove to the children's hospital because it was the first one she saw.

Rose said the woman was transported to Atlanta Medical Center. No further details on the woman's condition or the circumstances surrounding the shooting were available.
