Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of a house fire that killed an east Cobb County woman Thursday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to 494 Willow Springs Drive shortly after 1 p.m., according to Denell Boyd with the Cobb County fire department. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, making it difficult to enter, Boyd said.

A woman inside the home did not survive, Boyd said. Her death was confirmed at 5 p.m.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, apparently left a note behind, but officials would not confirm it was a suicide letter. Her car was parked on the street with a dog inside, Boyd said.
