A wildfire near Lawrenceville burned about 4.5 acres in a wooded area of Harbins Park.

The fire was contained as of Thursday afternoon, but crews continue to put out hot spots, said Captain Tommy Rutledge, spokesperson for Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. It began late Wednesday afternoon.

Crews have had to use water cans and other hand tools to extinguish the flames, as the fire is in a difficult-to-reach area, and Rutledge said.

No injuries have been reported. The affected woods border a residential area, but no homes or other structures are in immediate danger, Rutledge said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Wildfires have torched parts of North Georgia for weeks. Officials said no effort to contain the fires has been successful, and the largest active fire has burned about 25,000 acres.

Amid a statewide drought, Georgia has imposed the strictest water restrictions in years.
