This is "Actual Factual Gwinnett," a regular column in which I, Amanda Coyne, answer reader questions about Gwinnett happenings and history. Enjoy!

At a concert at Lakewood Amphitheatre in August 2017, musician John Mayer reminisced about the early days of his career in Atlanta, including the time he spent living in Duluth.

Naturally, we had to find out where Mayer had lived, and if that piece of musical history was still standing in Gwinnett County.

Records show that a John C. Mayer lived in two apartments on The Falls Parkway in Duluth beginning in August 1998. John Mayer, whose middle name is Clayton, moved to Georgia in 1998 after dropping out of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, according to a profile from the college.

There was an apartment complex called The Falls at Gwinnett Place, which was surrounded by The Falls Parkway, but had a Satellite Boulevard address. The Falls at Gwinnett Place is now closed and an apartment complex named Parc Shores is now listed at the same address.

Next time you listen to your favorite tracks from Mayer’s early albums, who knows, you may be hearing some music written in Gwinnett County.
