Wheeler High student is semifinalist in Siemens competition

A Wheeler High School student is a semifinalist in the 2011 Siemens Competition for math, science and technology, according to Cobb County Schools.

Pradeep Prathiba, a senior at the Wheeler High School Center for Advanced Studies in Science, Mathematics, and Technology, conducted research at Emory University with the help of mentors. Her project: "Expression of Cyan Flourescent Protein (CFP) in Hepatitis C Viral Genome for Direct Visualization of Infected Cells and Potential Use for Rapid Drug Discovery Inhibitors."

A half dozen students at the center have been Siemens semifinalists since 2006, according to the school system.
