The Georgia Department of Transportation has outlined alternative routes for drivers after part of I-85 collapsed after a fire. Original story: The 1-85 bridge collapse that closed a crucial section of one of metro Atlanta's busiest highways has also shut down part of the busy road that runs under it.

The section of Piedmont Road that runs under the bridge is closed to thru traffic from Sidney Marcus Boulevard on the north to Cheshire Bridge Road on the south, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

GDOT hasn't provided specific detours, but suggests motorists use navigation apps or take MARTA, if possible.

Lindbergh Center is the closest MARTA station to Sidney Marcus Boulevard.

The Thursday evening fire happened on I-85 northbound just south of Ga. 400 near Piedmont Road.
