Westside intersection reopens after suspicious package investigation

A busy westside intersection has reopened after being shut down during Wednesday’s morning commute while authorities investigated a suspicious package. According to Atlanta police dispatchers, the red duffel bag was found before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and West Marietta Street.

According to Atlanta police dispatchers, the red duffel bag was found before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and West Marietta Street.
Both West Marietta Street and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard remained closed until the all-clear was sounded just aftern 8:30 a.m.
The duffel bag turned out to be empty, according to Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon.
