The Union City Department of Watershed Management has issued a water boil advisory, after a power outage from storms on Saturday triggered a temporary loss of pressure in the drinking water system. Although the system was restored to normal within 45 minutes, a boil-water advisory remains in effect for the following areas:

Streets between Memorial Drive and Interstate 20 in South Fulton County and from Chastain Street to Pearl Street. Affected areas include, but are not limited to, the Fox Theater, Cabbagetown, Edgewood, Old Fourth Ward, West End, Peoplestown, Reynoldstown, Mechanicsville, Summerhill, Edgewood, and Avon Avenue.

Customers in those areas should boil water for one minute past a rolling boil before using it for cooking, drinking or brushing teeth. Infants, the elderly and those with immune deficiencies should be particularly careful. The advisory will remain in place through midnight today.
