The Henry County Water Authority was recognized repeatedly for its achievements during the fall conference of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals.

The top honor was the 2014 Collection System Gold Award, which was given to only nine utilities in the state this year. To qualify requires a score of 95 percent or higher on an annual industry review of the sewer system.

Two Public Education Awards were received: a Certificate of Merit for Program of the Year in the large system category, and the honor for Best Innovative Initiative for the Authority’s Cubihatcha Kids field trips, which host about 3,000 local third-graders each year.

The HCWA received a Certificate of Distinguished Merit for its Water Quality Laboratory at the Tussahaw Water Treatment Facility, as well as the 2014 Consumer Confidence Report Award, an honor judged on content and design of its annual publication informing customers what is in their drinking water and why.
