A Cherokee County woman was injured as she tried to protect herself from an exploding LG washer.

Connie Lindsay told Channel 2 Action News she was visiting her family and doing laundry when the machine exploded in her face.

“The whole top of the machine came off and was holding on by one screw,” Lindsay said. “It began to torque around and hit me as I put my hand up to defend my face. It hit me in my hand and shoved me back to the wall.”

Lindsay injured her wrist, which hasn’t recovered even with therapy, Channel 2 reported.

“I get a call from a woman saying she was attacked by a washing machine,” Lindsay’s attorney Kyle Koester told Channel 2. “I thought quite frankly that it was a hoax.”

Channel 2's Justin Wilfon shows us what went wrong.

The incident happened in May, Channel 2 reported, and the family has since purchased a new washer, but wants some form of compensation from LG.

“We want people to know that this is a real danger and we want LG to take it seriously as well,” daughter-in-law Traci Lindsay said.

The family is not suing the company right now, the lawyer said.

Connie Lindsay is glad her grandchildren weren’t hurt.

“My grandkids had just been up there with me so it was pretty frightening that they might have been there,” she told Channel 2. “That my 12-year-old grandson might have been hit in the head.”

LG could not comment on the case until they learn more details, Channel 2 reported.

Earlier this week a woman from Paulding County said she was suing Samsung after a washer exploded and nearly hit her son.
