It’s finally confirmed Dairy Queen will return as part of Decatur’s Trinity Triangle development (which is being renamed “Arlo”). Lease terms have been finalized according to Assistant City Manager Lyn Menne, and DQ will move into the ground floor on East Trinity Place, near the original site where it operated for 30 years before closing Feb. 22, 2014.
Waffle House has received permit plans to start construction later this month in an early 20th-century building on North McDonough Street under Eddie’s Attic, added Manne . The company will remove the false front, exposing the original brick, and should open this summer.
Though founded just beyond city limits in Avondale Estates, this is Waffle House’s first-ever Decatur store.
