Several community groups in Lithonia plan to distribute food to families in need ahead of the holiday season.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Lithonia City Hall. It is sponsored by the food pantries at Exousia Lighthouse International Christian Ministries, First St. Paul AME and Lithonia First United Methodist Church.

Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to noon to help organize and distribute the food. Interested residents should text 678-887-3221.

If you are in need of food this holiday season, you can bring a photo ID and carts, bags or boxes to the event on Dec. 7.

Lithonia City Hall is located at 6920 Main St.
