A total of 10,601 meals were served to students from Henry County public schools during the spring break week in early April, according to a report given at the April 20 meeting of the Henry County Board of Education.

A local nonprofit known as Operation Lunchbox partnered with several local businesses to facilitate the effort, with a major boost coming from a donation by the Chris Tucker Foundation. More than 400 community volunteers pitched in to help provide breakfast and lunch each day as six designated feeding sites: McDonough Middle; Stockbridge Elementary; Wesley Lakes Elementary; Hampton Elementary; Locust Grove Elementary; and Oakland Elementary.
