The Hampton Ethics Committee ruled April 23 on a series of complaints by council member Elton Brown against Mayor Steve Hutchison and council members Henry Byrd, Errol Mitchell and Stephanie Bodie and found no violations.

This was the third time in three months that Brown was on the losing end of an ethics ruling. The committee voted Feb. 26 on a separate complaint by Brown against Bodie that there was no violation.

After a March 19 hearing on complaints against Brown filed by several citizens, the committee ruled that Brown was in violation and recommended that he receive a reprimand from the council, although at its April regular meeting the council voted to defer any such action until May.
