The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to give a $10,000 grant to the Vinings Historic Preservation Society from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division.

The society spent this amount to stabilize and repair the foundation of the circa 1870 Solomon and Penelopy Pace House, 3057 Paces Mill Road in Vinings.

Owned by the society, the house is one of the few existing historic structures in Vinings and the only one in the community that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Pace House is the only remaining structure associated with the Pace family and the former ferry they operated on the Chattahoochee River.
