The message was short and sweet.

“Hello, my name is Agnes. Thank you for praying for me. I am getting better. Thank you. I love you all.”

Then, a smile.

It’s progress. Agnes Kim survived an April 27 crash that killed four of her close friends and injured a woman in another car. For months, family members and doctors have declined requests inquiring about Kim’s condition. Updates have been made periodically on a YouCaring page set up by friends to help with medical bills.

Only recently did Kim, a graduate of Gwinnett's Brookwood High School, begin speaking, according to a note posted Monday.
