An unoccupied Norcross apartment building that was being renovated after a fire in February suffered heavy damage in another blaze Wednesday afternoon.
The 10-unit structure in the 6500 block of Hillandale Drive NW, near Jimmy Carter and Peachtree Industrial boulevards, was empty at the time of the fire and no civilian was injured, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
A firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation for heat-related illness.
The cause of the fire had not been determined, Rutledge said.
The building was scheduled to be re-occupied in the next few months, he said.
