Because open seats for city government are unopposed, Union City has cancelled the Nov. 7 election. CONTRIBUTED

Union City has canceled the city’s fall municipal election set for Nov. 7. The three open seats of mayor and two council members each have just one candidate. Union City’s elected officials consist of a mayor and four at-large city council members elected to four-year terms.

Under state law, the unopposed candidates are now considered the future office-holders.

Mayor — Vince R. Williams

Councilmember — Shayla J. Nealy

Councilmember — Angelette Mealing

Council meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the City’s Council Chambers located at 5047 Union Street, Union City. Work sessions begins at 6:15 p.m. and regular Council meeting begins at 7 p.m.
