A new program will give University of Georgia students the chance to get one-on-one tutorials in Portuguese and spend a year in Brazil.

The college received a federal grant worth more than $225,000 to start the Undergraduate Flagship Program in Portuguese. The program is open to students who want to "internationalize" their education. The first group of students will be admitted in January.

More focus is being placed on Brazil because the country has the largest economy in Latin America and will host the World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympics in 2016.
