The University of Georgia enrolled 34,677 students this fall semester, officials announced Friday. That's a slight drop from last fall's total of 34,885 students, according to state enrollment figures.

The main Athens campus enrolled 33,713 students, a decrease of less than one quarter of one percent. Enrollment at the satellite campuses dropped by 8.6 percent to 871 students, according to a news release. UGA has campuses in Buckhead, Tifton, Griffin and Gwinnett County.

While overall enrollment dropped a smidgen, several colleges experienced significant gains in enrollment. The College of Public Health gained 95 students, an increase of about 20 percent. The Engineering program gained 54 students, an increase of about 47 percent.
