Friday was fabulous for about 7,500 high school seniors who received acceptance letters today from the University of Georgia.

For the third year in a row, UGA has announced early-action admission decisions about three weeks sooner than usual. The decisions were available for students through a status check option on the university’s admissions website. UGA will not mail letters to students who were denied admission.

The school plans to accept about 62 percent of the 12,000 early-action applications for the freshman class that will begin in 2014.

By Friday evening social media cites were full of UGA mentions. For example, Lindsay Burr tweeted: “Doing a solo victory lap around the office at internship…#UGAAdmissions #godawgs”
