An emergency ordinance enacted by the Tyrone Town Council at a special March 24 meeting has placed further restrictions on restaurants, service industries and social gatherings through April 7.
Stating that “the public peace…is threatened due to the COVID-19 pandemic” and noting measures already enacted by the state and federal government, the ordinance closes all Tyrone restaurants to in-person dining but allows pickup and delivery services to continue. Licensed establishments can sell unopened beer and wine with food purchases for pickup only. Services such as hair and nail salons can operate by appointment only and must follow social distancing requirements. Gyms and other group exercise facilities are called on to close, and the public must adhere to CDC guidelines limiting gatherings to 10 people or fewer, with 6-foot distances between them.
Tyrone residents considered medically high-risk “are called on to shelter in place” except for essential activities. The full ordinance is posted at www.tyrone.org.
