Paulding law enforcement officials are seeking an unidentified male and female who are suspected of scamming an elderly Paulding County woman out of a large sum of money. Coming to her home, the two suspects posed as undercover police officers, telling her they knew she was scammed a few months ago and they needed her assistance to catch the persons responsible - though she never reported that incident to law enforcement. The suspects, both descibed as black and dressed in business attire with gold badges on their belts, allegedly drove the victim to the SunTrust bank inside the Publix at Lost Mountain in Cobb County and instructed her to withdraw a large sum of money so that they could arrest the teller who the suspects said was involved in the initial scam.
The suspects reportedly then told the woman that another “agent” would be inside the bank to witness the transaction, which was done by a third suspect, also described as a black male wearing business attire. Following the transaction, the first two suspects allegedly promised to pay the victim a $10,000 reward for her assistance within 45 minutes after taking her home.
However, the victim gave her withdrawn money to the suspects who never returned.
Anyone who has been a victim of a similar scam should call their local law enforcement agency immediately to report the
incident.
Anyone with information about these subjects is asked to contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 770-443-3015.
