A pair of recent rabies alerts have been issued in separate areas of Henry County.

The county’s Animal Care and Control Department received both calls May 30: one for a raccoon attacked a cat and its owner in the area of Ridgewood Trail, off of Noah’s Ark Road, in Stockbridge; and the other for a raccoon that attacked two dogs and was killed by the dogs in the area of Hall Road, which encompasses both Henry and Spalding counties.

Both raccoons were taken to the Georgia Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing and the results came back positive for the rabies virus, leading to 45-day rabies alerts in both locations issued by the Henry County Animal Care and Control Department in conjunction with the Henry County Board of Health Department.
