Two people were injured late Monday when a car careened off a DeKalb County street and crashed into a house, police said.

The incident happened just before midnight on Rue St. Germain, in a neighborhood off Rays Road near Stone Mountain.

The impact left a gaping hole in the side of the brick house.

DeKalb police Capt. Frank Braun said the woman driving the car and an occupant of the house were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Braun told The Atlanta-Journal-Constitution.

He said the driver blamed the accident on “mechanical issues” with the vehicle.
