Two nominated for Fulton election board

Jan 18, 2013

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners will consider two new appointments to the county elections board Wednesday.

Commissioner Robb Pitts has nominated former City of Atlanta attorney Mary Carole Cooney to be the next chair. The Republican Party has nominated former Atlanta City Councilwoman Mary Norwood to serve as a board member.

Cooney spent 22 years as an attorney for the city and has spent the last 14 years in private practice. Since 2005 he has served as secretary for the League of Women Voters of Atlanta-Fulton County. Norwood ran for mayor in 2009, losing narrowly in a runoff to Kasim Reed.
