Two men were arrested Wednesday and charged in the burglary of a Forsyth County jewelry store over the weekend.
Arrested were Kenardis Demaine Holloway, 32, of Smyrna and Carl Henry Bowser, III, 26, of Atlanta. The men have been charged with burglary and theft by receiving and are being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Police said Tuesday that more than $2 million was taken from the Milano Fine Jewelry store at 1245 Buford Highway in Cumming. A hole was cut in the wall shared with the business next to the store and jewelry was stolen and cash was taken from a safe, Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office told the AJC.
"They knew what they were doing and what they were looking for," House said.
It was a construction crew arriving for work Monday morning that noticed the gaping hole in the wall at the strip mall, located in the 1200 block of Buford Road near Cumming. The jewelry store and a mattress store are located in the strip mall, but the business between those two stores is under construction, House said.
Deputies found broken glass inside the store and some items behind the store, leading investigators to believe there may have been a "get away" plan. The store had surveillance cameras, but the suspected burglars removed the electronics, too, House said.
"They ransacked this man's business," House said.
Police said Bowser and Holloway were arrested without incident. Bowser was found at a house in southwest Atlanta around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Holloway was arrested at 3 a.m. Wednesday at an extended stay hotel in Stockbridge, Ga.
