Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Henry County Board of Commissioners Chair June Wood and local businessman Jake Carter to the Georgia Economic Development Board of Directors.

Wood was sworn in May 23 by Kemp as several commission members and supporters looked on, according to a statement from county officials. Wood is also on the board of the Atlanta Regional Commission by virtue of her position as county commission chair. Carter is owner of Southern Belle Farm, a 330-acre agritourism facility east of McDonough, and previously served on the Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee of the American Farm Bureau.

Southern Belle Farm has received national media attention on several occasions, most recently in promotional spots by CBS Sports in advance of Super Bowl LIII, which was played in Atlanta.
