A late-night shootout in a south DeKalb County neighborhood Tuesday left two men dead, police said.

DeKalb police spokeswoman Bettina Durant said the shooting broke out during a dispute between two men on Mallard Trail off Covington Highway.

The men, who fired at each other, both died, Durant said.

She said one man was driven to a gas station at Covington Highway and Panola Road, where he died, while the second man was found deceased at the shooting scene.

The identities of the men, and a motive for the shooting, have not been released.
