Traffic stop yields fake Social Security cards, drugs

June 21, 2012

A traffic stop on I-20 led Douglas County deputies to a treasure trove of illegal items.

A police dog alerted deputies to the possibility of drugs in the car, and deputies found cocaine and marijuana, according to the sheriff's office.

In addition to the drugs, deputies found 37 stolen checks, a U.S. Treasury check, five phony Social Security cards and several fake IDs from various states, according to the sheriff's office.

Those in the car were arrested without incident. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating.
