C.W. Matthews Contracting Company Inc. began work this week to begin splitting State Route 20 traffic around the median between Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.

Traffic will be divided to allow drivers to utilize a newly constructed three-mile section, between Samples Road in Cumming and James Burgess Road in Suwanee. Traffic will still only utilize one lane in each direction.

Messages boards have been in place on S.R. 20 since late January. This split in traffic is the first step to opening all the lanes to traffic by the end of May 2018.
