After being closed for two months, a road in Alpharetta has reopened.
The city announced on Friday that Mayfield Road is now open to all traffic. The road was closed so crews could repair and replace bridges and culverts.
After closing on May 29, the road was supposed to be closed until Aug. 5, but Alpharetta's City Council approved crews to work extra hours, moving the expected completion date up to July 14. But weather and "soil quality issues" slowed down the project and delayed that reopening date.

“We know that the closure of this road has created difficulties for many of our residents and numerous commuters,” Alpharetta Public Works Director Pete Sewczwicz said in a statement. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction, and we are excited to reopen Mayfield Road today.”
Sewczwicz added that construction crews will still be active around the Foe Killer Creek culvert as they apply a decorative veneer to the exposed walls, finish sidewalks and finalize landscaping.
