Traffic is again flowing after a car-train collision Wednesday afternoon just before rush hour, police said.

A freight train crashed into a black Mercedes trapped on the tracks at Walker Road and South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road, temporarily closing the right-of-way, Capt. Steve Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

There were no injuries, Fore said.

“The guardrails came down as the train approached,” Fore said. “The driver was able to exit the vehicle before it was struck by the train. There was no one else in the vehicle.”
