Mickey "Memphitz" Wright, who costars with wife Toya Carter in BET's "Toya: A Family Affair," was in court Tuesday on a charge that he carried a gun in his carry-on bag into Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Wright told a judge, "I just wanted to say to you that I would never intentionally take a firearm to the airport. I just forgot that it was in my backpack," according to Channel 2 Action News.

He is charged with carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location. Authorities found the gun Monday when Wright's bag went through the X-ray scanner at a security checkpoint. TSA officials said offenders could face fines of up to $10,000 for bringing a gun to the airport.

Wright, 34, spent Monday night in the Clayton County Jail and made his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon, with his wife and others at the proceedings for support, Channel 2 said. He was granted a $5,000 bond and later released.

It was disclosed in court that Wright has a license to carry the weapon, a .40-caliber Desert Eagle.

"Toya: A Family Affair" follows the life of Toya Carter, who was once married to rapper Lil Wayne. She previously costarred in the hit reality show "Tiny and Toya" with T.I.'s wife.
