Contrary to rumors making the rounds Wednesday, Together In Atlanta’s annexation master plan is not expanding to include Suburban Plaza, long targeted by Decatur in various annexation proposals dating to the 1950s.

“That’s a new one on me,” said TIA Co-Chair Anne Wallace Thursday afternoon.

Wallace said she expects some “small adjustments” to TIA’s map when legal ads are placed, probably next week, but mostly it’s the same plan that’s been in place for weeks. There are overlaps between TIA and Decatur maps, with both including the North Parkwood Road area and the four shopping centers at North Decatur Road and Clairmont Avenue. Wallace believes the North Decatur/Clairmont overlap could become contentious.

“The three civic associations (Medlock, Druid Hills and Clairmont Heights) surrounding that intersection don’t want Decatur taking their shopping centers,” Wallace said.
