Halloween is still weeks away, but an Alpharetta mischief maker was recently up to no good, according to a Facebook post from the city’s department of public safety.
On Saturday around 11 p.m., a 5-foot-10 white male suspect stole a life-size replica of “Leatherface,” the legendary killer from the movie “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” from the Flatlands Bourbon and Bayou restaurant on Main Street.
Less than 24 hours after the public safety department posted a video of the suspect stealing “Leatherface,” the replica was returned to the owners of the restaurant. Police said they received an “anonymous tip” that led to the replica’s location.
“The owners of Flatlands Bourbon and Bayou are very thankful and will not be pursuing criminal charges in the hopes a lesson was learned here,” police said. “Our community will not tolerate thieves and will band together to keep our great city safe. The person responsible should consider himself very lucky.”

Francois Duquette, the executive chef of the restaurant, commented on the post to thank Alpharetta citizens and police, and to send another warning to the thief.
“Just want to personally thank the community for all your help and for the detectives for bringing Leatherface back home. He was missed,” Duquette wrote. “Also to the culprit I chose to not press charges in hope that this was a learning lesson that you will (be) caught if you mess with Alpharetta or any town. Thank you Alpharetta for everything.”
