Three people were wounded overnight in a shootout at a south Fulton apartment complex, police said.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the shooting happened Sunday night during an apparent robbery attempt at the Biscayne Apartment Homes on Old National Highway near College Park.

Police believe four armed men tried to rob two other men outside their apartment.

"Shots were exchanged as they tried to get into the apartment," Fulton police spokesman Scott McBride told Channel 2. "Both victims were shot," McBride said. "I understand one of the victims returned fire, shooting one, possibly two of the perpetrators."

Police found one of the suspects shot in the back near a nearby nightclub and arrested him. Investigators were still looking for the other three suspects.

Police have not released the names or conditions of those wounded.
