A presentation next week from a citizens oversight committee reviewing Cobb County’s policies and spending is likely to span three hours with reports from each of the committee’s four teams.

The committee began work in late March with a goal of providing commissioners cost-saving recommendations before deliberations for the fiscal 2012 budget, which begins in October.

The committee has received about 350 suggestions, and about 20 percent of those appear to be from county employees, committee chairman Brett McClung said.

Committee members consider Tuesday’s presentation a progress report, and plan to work through the end of the year to fully complete their work.

Tuesday’s session begins at 1:30 p.m. at the government building, 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.
