Villa Rica police arrested three men over the weekend in connection with a bar fight that left a fourth man seriously injured.

Channel 2 Action News reported Sunday that Chase Mayfield, 21, remains in a coma from the fight, which happened early Friday outside Stix Bar & Grill on Bankhead Highway in Villa Rica.

Mayfield’s brother, Cody Mayfield, told Channel 2 that his brother walked out of the bar to help a man who had too much to drink, and once outside, was beaten and kicked unconscious.

“He tried to avoid the situation,” Cody Mayfield told the station. “One hit him and he tried to run away to get away from the situation, because he was outnumbered, and as another man hit him from the side, he fell and hit the concrete.”

On Saturday, Villa Rica police charged Gene Norris, Michael Baldwin and Greg Rainwater with aggravated assault and battery, Channel 2 reported. The three were being held without bond.
