The St. Thomas More Society of Atlanta recently honored two people in the legal profession during its Red Mass at the Basilica of the Scared Heart of Jesus.

Emmet J. Bondurant II, a partner with the firm of Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, was recognized for his efforts to help provide legal counsel for the  poor and his opposition to the death penalty. Also honored was Janis C. Gordon, a judge in the DeKalb County State Court. Gordon was cited for her work seeking justice for women and children who have been victims of prostitution and domestic violence.

The Red Mass is held annually to ask for blessings for judges, attorneys, public officials, law enforcement officers and others in the state's legal system.
