Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology has already been dubbed the best high school in Georgia. Now, education analysis site Niche.com says it's among the top 10 public high schools in the United States.

The Gwinnett County magnet school was ranked No. 10 on Niche.com’s list of best high schools in the U.S. for 2018. The website determined the rankings by considering academics, culture and diversity, parent and student surveys, teacher performance and surveys, clubs and activities, health and safety, resources and sports. Of that data, 40 percent comes from input from Niche website readers. Data from the U.S. Department of Education, colleges and test scores is also considered.

GSMST received A+ grades in academics, teachers, diversity, college prep, clubs and activities, health and safety and administration. It received A grades for food and resources, and a C- for sports; it does not have its own sports teams.

The top three schools in the Niche ranking were all in Illinois. Walter Payton College Prep and Northside College Prepatory High School, both in Chicago, were No. 1 and No. 2. Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois, was ranked No. 3.

GSMST was one of Gwinnett County's smaller high schools when the district conducted its first enrollment count of the year on August 8. It had 1,047 students, compared to Mill Creek High School's 3,655.
