National non-profit KaBOOM!, renowned for its community playground projects, is honoring Decatur.

It gave the city a 2017 Playful City USA designation, a nod to Decatur’s commitment to “playplaces within the parks and greenspaces.”

“I can't think of a better designation for the city of Decatur,” Mayor Patti Garrett said in a news release. “Using public art, parks, playgrounds and spaces such as our new MARTA mural and KaBOOM! playspace, the city strives to offer a variety of places to stop, be playful, have fun and engage with friends and neighbors."
