Atlanta police Wednesday were looking for two men who pulled off a daring late-morning jewelry heist at a Buckhead department store.

After two men entered the Belk store at Phipps Plaza, one used a hammer to break into a jewelry display case, while the other removed a tray of diamond earrings worth approximately $30,000, according to the preliminary investigation.

Police responded to the theft call at 3500 Peachtree Road around 11:10 a.m., Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.

Both suspects had fled and were last seen entering a parking deck outside of the mall, he said.

The suspects remained at large Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information on the case should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
