About 100 years ago, we were the most prosperous nation in the world. That was before the dog license tax, federal unemployment tax, gasoline tax, inheritance tax, property tax, sales tax, vehicle license tax and 39 other taxes.
How's this for a dire fact: On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council passed a minimum wage law by a 14-to-1 vote margin that continually cranks up wages for the next five years to $15 an hour. Meanwhile, employers are responding by investing in machines over people.

Science is never "settled."
The lists of "good" and "bad" presidents are assembled by historians and zealots only after the president has been elected and has served. By then it is too late. What we need is a way to identify the "good" presidents before the elections. But then, that's what politics are all about, so I am a pessimist.
