Q: I recently read of a proposed I-3 in Georgia. Doesn't the Federal Highway Administration designate routes with low numbers in the west for north-south routes and low numbers in the south for east-west routes? Why isn't this proposed interstate designated with a higher route number?

— Lance DeLoach, Thomaston

A: In 2005, Congress asked the Federal Highway Administration to evaluate the feasibility of an interstate – named in honor of the 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, Ga. – to connect Knoxville, Augusta and Savannah. FHA spokesman Doug Hecox told Q&A on the News that the proposed "3rd Infantry Division Highway" has not been assigned a route number since it is only a proposed route. Though some refer to it as the "I-3," this proposal does not have interstate status and the number is simply a nickname some have given it, he wrote in an e-mail. "Neither the states involved nor Congress has indicated this will be an interstate route, so it is unclear what number would formally be assigned to it," he wrote.

Q: Did the first lady's brother also join her on the trip to Africa?

— Mike Smith, Decatur

A: Michelle Obama's brother, Craig Robinson, did not join the first lady her on the trip. His children, 19-year-old Avery Robinson and 15-year-old Leslie Robinson, accompanied Obama, her daughters and her mother to Africa.
