Shop with pleasure, Smyrna residents.

The Publix in the Jonquil shopping center opened today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. So if you head over there quick, you can get one of the store's first Publix subs.

The 45,600-square-foot grocery store and pharmacy is located on the northwest corner of Atlanta and Spring roads.

The developer, Halpern Enterprises, estimates that the intersection sees nearly 46,000 vehicles a day.

Word of the Publix came in May with an original opening date of spring 2017.

But Halpern confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in early November that Publix would be open by the end of the year.

The 11-acre Jonquil development also features 266-living units.

“Construction is on schedule, and tenants will be taking possession of their spaces this week and next to start their build-outs,” said Kendall Ridley, a Halpern spokeswoman.

If you plan on living that close to a Publix, you might need this.
