What was once a Walmart has risen again and is now a City Farmers Market — like a food store phoenix — in Marietta.

The store at 1167 Powder Springs St. opened anew on Friday, said Paul Wu, an assistant manager at the Chamblee location.

The Walmart closed Dec. 4, upending nearly 70 employees at the store.

This is Cobb County’s first City Farmers Market, which has a wide selection of produce and ingredients often used in Asian and Hispanic cuisines.

That Chamblee location is the company’s flagship store. It also has a second DeKalb spot on Buford Highway in Brookhaven.
