Tennis Industry Magazine has awarded its “Park & Rec Agency of the Year” designation to the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department, city officials announced.

Roswell's program is highlighted in the magazine's January issue, which has its annual "Champions of Tennis" awards for individuals and organizations that go "above and beyond in helping to make a difference" in the sport, officials said. To read it: www.tennisindustrymag.com

“The story highlights the significant contributions of Scott Laakso, Roswell’s athletic coordinator, who supervised the tennis program for more than 15 years and helped to create a program so successful it has inspired other community tennis programs around the nation,” according to the city’s announcement.

Roswell's tennis program operates on 28 city courts at five location. Each year, more than 4,300 people are served through the city's tennis classes, camps and open play areas, and nearly 1,000 youth and adult tennis players are on city-based teams. Information: https://bit.ly/2HaBuLA
